The plan is to present collections of about 16 flowers. Collection themes might include: plant families, flower color, size or shape, habitat, season, and location.

Collection 1
Plant Family Sampler

This collection presents one flower from each of 12 flower families. These flowers were chosen because they are seen often on trails in the parks around Puget Sound and/or the forest zones of the Cascade Mountains.

Collection 2
Mt. Baker Hikes

These photos were taken on a three-day trip to the north side of Mt. Baker. There was a profusion of wildflowers, especially in the valley along the Lake Ann Trail and the summit of the Skyline Divide Trail. This collection shows only photographs taken on this trip. The Lake Ann Trail ranged from 3900 to 4800 feet in elevation. The top of Table Mountain is at about 5700 feet. The Skyline Divide Trail ranged from 4000 to 6215 feet.

Collection 3
Deception Pass Volkswalks

Deception Pass is a narrow, river-like waterway connecting the northeastern part of Puget Sound and the Strait of Juan de Fuca. It is located near Anacortes, Washington. The flowers were photographed along the Deception Pass State Park trails through the woods, along the beach, and onto the bluffs.

Collection 4
Carkeek Park

Carkeek Park is a 223-acre area of forest, streams, meadows, and saltwater beach located in northwest Seattle. It is the watershed for Pipers Creek and its tributaries and the site of a salmon restoration project that was begun in 1980. Two gardens, the Salmon Friendly Garden and the Backyard Habitat Garden, demonstrate use of native plants. Most of the flowers in this collection are of shrubs growing along the streams.
